We have established a poliovirus-nonsusceptible cell line for measles virus and rubella virus isolation, aiming to contribute to the global polio eradication, rubella control, and measles elimination programs. The cells (Vero ΔPVR1/2 hSLAM+ cells) have been deposited in the JCRB cell bank of the National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition, and the procedure to make them available for worldwide distribution is underway.
