Research Highlight: Natural Emergence of Primate-Adapted Canine Distemper Virus
Our research findings have been published in Emerging Infectious Diseases, a journal of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and featured in a press release issued by the University of Tokyo.
In this study, we investigated a canine distemper virus (CDV) outbreak in marmosets in Brazil in 2018 and demonstrated the natural emergence of CDV variants adapted to the primate receptor SLAM (CD150).
These findings provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying viral host-range expansion and cross-species transmission.
